Ingredients

  • 200 g dark chocolate
  • 170 g unsalted butter
  • 220 g sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 90 g plain flour
  • 25 g cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Method

  1. Step 1

    Heat the oven to 175°C and line a square baking tin with baking paper.

  2. Step 2

    Melt the butter with the dark chocolate until smooth, then whisk in the sugar until glossy.

  3. Step 3

    Whisk in the eggs one at a time until the batter looks thick and shiny.

  4. Step 4

    Fold in the flour, the cocoa powder and the salt just until the batter comes together.

  5. Step 5

    Scrape the batter into the tin and smooth the top.

  6. Step 6

    Bake for 24 to 32 minutes until the edges are set and the center still looks slightly fudgy.

  7. Step 7

    Cool the slab completely before lifting it out and cutting it into bars.
